Climate Action and Human Rights Workshop

I. In accordance with the letter from the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, dated August 17, 2023, Ref. No. 1120110642.

II. To further promote awareness of climate and human rights issues, the Environmental Protection Administration has commissioned the Foundation to organize the aforementioned workshop. Government officials involved in climate issues, planners, and the public are invited to participate, brainstorm, discuss, and practice integrating climate issues into human rights.

III. The event is free of charge and offers lifelong learning hours for civil servants and environmental education certification. Key information is summarized below:

(I) 2023 Event Schedule and Content (6 sessions in total), with 40 participants per session:

1. August 31 (Thursday) Taipei Session: Residential/Commercial/Transportation, 08:50-09:10 Registration. 2. September 12 (Tuesday) Kaohsiung Session: Manufacturing/Energy, 13:10-13:30 Registration. 3. September 21 (Thursday) Taipei Session: Agriculture/Environment, 08:50-09:10 Registration. 4. September 22 (Friday) Taipei Session: Manufacturing/Energy, 08:50-09:10 Registration. 5. September 26 (Tuesday) Taichung Session: Agriculture/Environment, 13:10-13:30 Registration. 6. September 28 (Thursday) Taipei Session: Residential/Commercial/Transportation, 08:50-09:10 Registration.

(II) Event Locations:

1. Taipei Session: NGO会馆, No. 8, Qingdao East Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (5-minute walk from Shandao Temple Station, Blue Line MRT).

2. Taichung Session: TOPSPACE Center, 3rd Floor, No. 23, Minzu Road, Central District, Taichung City (5-minute walk from Taichung Station).

3. Kaohsiung Session: WORKHUB Space, 11th Floor-1, No. 251, Minquan 1st Road, Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City (5-minute walk from Sinyi Elementary School Station, Orange Line MRT).

(III) Session Content: Integrating Climate Action into Human Rights (Issue explanation, understanding the draft guidelines for integrating human rights into Nationally Determined Contributions, draft operational guidelines for integrating human rights into the National Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan); Climate and Human Rights Case Practice (Group discussion, case explanation, understanding the 4 steps: policy review, fact-finding, regulatory inventory, and human rights scan); Climate and Human Rights Case Sharing and Analysis (Group sharing, opinion exchange and feedback, brainstorming various climate and human rights issues), approximately 3 hours.
